Whilst visiting a friend who has just moved to Seascale, we took the opportunity of trying out golf lessons. The people are so friendly and I am now able to swing a golf club...still trying to hit a ball though but as I was told...that will come in time :) thanks guys! |

When we arrived the mist was that thick we could not see the power plant from the clubhouse . But this soon shifted and we went out for 6 holes . Ive played well over 150 courses including open venues . But this is one of the hidden gems that you find now and again . There is not a loose hole on the course . With some tough par 4s on the back nine with the 16th being the toughest of them . The staff in the clubhouse made us feel very welome and with a meal in with the £40 weekend green fee it was great value |

I'd just like to say what a pleasure it was to play Seascale on Friday last. The weather was perfect and course in remarkably good condition. There are some memorable holes and our 3 ball all loved the 9th, 10th and one of the most challenging par 4s, the 16th, what a hole. Thanks for the warm welcome, we will return in the future. |

Super Value - Really enjoyed today with my party. We have played Penrith, Silloth and now Seascale over the weekend and most people ended this course with a smile on their face - because they enjoyed it! Even silly me who bounced off the 18th with my second shot never to be seen again! (not unknown I believe). Great value with the two for one - only regret we live too far away to take advantage of the membership offer! |

Golf trip - What a fantastic place to come to! Took 3 hours to get to Seascale (we ended up in Windermere after a wrong turn!), but it was well worth it! The welcome was warm and friendly from both staff and members, and they were very accomodating considering how late we arrived. We played on a clear day, and the views (Sellafield aside) were the best I have seen on any course I've played (and that's a lot!). On to the course, and a piece of advice...BE STRAIGHT! The rough is ROUGH! Also, stay out of fairway bunkers. I hit a 300+yd drive on the second par 5 only to end up in a 'coffin' bunker and could only come out sideways! (they really are hazards these bunkers) Having said that, when you hit good shots you do reap the rewards. The greens were fast and true, and receptive to well struck shots. It helps to know where you are going, there are several 'blind' shots. All in all, a great course and if it was closer I would definately come back more often! Oh, one other thing this course has...VALUE FOR MONEY! Only cost £17.50 to play on 2-for-1, and beforehand the burger we had was so large we couldn't finish it, even though we hadn't eaten all day up to arriving at the club (1.30pm). |

Feedback - Dear Sir During a visit to family in Calderbridge last week I was lucky enough to have been able to play on your course, Friday, and just wanted to pass on a few comments. The welcome I received was excellent having been introduced to your President and the Steward. They were extremely friendly and both took the time to talk with me and explain a bit about the course and club. The course was brilliant. I live in South Wales and have been lucky enough to play several top quality courses including such places as Royal Porthcawl, Celtic Manor etc but I must say what a revelation your course is. It was in fantastic condition, was a delight to play and made you think which should be a prerequisite for any golf course. After searching the internet I thought about Cockermouth, Keswick et al but I could not have made a better choice. I hope to be making a return to Cumbria in the near future and will definitely be paying Seascale a visit. Yours faithfully Carl Davies Rhondda Golf Club |

True Golf - We are a society called the 'olde knights of seascale' and have played at Seascale every year since 1991. Our members are drawn from the North East of England and the leafy suburbs of the South. The golf course is wonderful as is the welcome from staff and members of the golf club itself. The shortest hole is so perplexing - some days it's a wedge and others it's a 4 iron - work that one out!!! I would recommend anyone to play this course as it is aleays in fine condition and every hole gives you something to think about - take the 6th hole, Par 5, reachable in two (not by me!) but with a green so devilkish it would put Augusta national to shame - walk off with a 3 putt and you're doing well! Although it is a difficult course it is really enjoyable to play. To round off your visit stay at The Calder House Hotel which is tremendous - the welcome from hosts Andy and Steve and the food are truly superb. We'll be there in August this year and are looking forward to renewing old acquaintances. |

Seascale feedback - We played this magnificent old links course in June and it was in excellent condition. The course, location and clubhouse hark back to days gone by when people were more friendly and we all had more time on our hands. We found the member rightly proud of the course and the food v good value at lunchtime. To the links. A huge variety of holes. The par 3's demanded 9 iron - 5 wood. The par 4's include the magnificent 3rd and 16th where a par would be one of your defining moments as a golfer. The rolling fairways were quick and the contours around the greens required imagination. The true greens were quick but held a crisp iron. Yes Sellafield's next door and plainly in view especially around the turn but do not let this dissuade you from enjoying a round here. At the time of feedback Seascale is taking 2 for 1 vouchers and I found booking a small party of 6 for 36 and soup and sandwiches v easy indeed by phoning the secretary. If your intention is to come to this neck of the woods and play Silloth (and it was magnificent) I would encourage you to play Seascale for that pure links experience. |

Seascale in springtime - We visited the club during the recent dry period. Competatively priced, it was in excellent condition with fast, running fairways and true, slick greens. We particularly liked the par 5's and the strong par 4 16th, all of which run over undulating links ground. Constant changes in elevation also add to the interest. There is a large practice area and first class changing facilities. The clubhouse has a traditional feel with views of the 1st and 18th fairways. Meals are substantial, freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful. Approaching from the South, the drive from the M6 winds through picturesque countryside. Seascale doesn't currently enjoy the reputation it fully deserves. Any lover of links golf should consider including it in their itinerary. |
