About the Course Over the years the Links at Seascale has had many minor alterations but generally the layout has remained the same since its beginning. Many visitors have commented on how much they have enjoyed playing on a course that has retained so many natural features and are delighted that we have never tried to spoil this. Our greens staff led by Ron Brown have been praised again in our annual Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) report for the management of the course which quoted "It is a fantastic example of a true links course managed in a traditional manner and a great example of sustainable golf course management at its very best". Although the aim at Seascale Golf Club is to retain the traditional feel to the course, there have been some significant improvements. These include a fully integrated watering system for tees and greens which provide superb conditions to create some of the best greens in the country. A new foot bridge has been built on the fantastic short 10th hole making the signature hole of the course even better! Improvements have been made to a number of the competition tees, some have been re-layed to provide greater surface area, whilst others have been rebuilt to provide some extra length making some very challenging competition tee shots. Many elements come into play here at Seascale: obviously the seaside winds can significantly effect playing conditions, dry spells can really speed things up here, with fairways running as quickly as greens! and out of bounds, bunkers, streams, gorse and rough test the player's skill and patience but this only makes a solid par or rare birdie all the more rewarding.
